This is such a unique find!
The tea harvest basket/backpack shown was used throughout Ceylon in the 1950’s.
Also referred to a ‘Hod’ which is a tall basket or vessel used in harvesting a variety of fruits, vegetables, flowers and the like.
They were all hand made from local materials, carefully stitched & had a long hanging handle with additional shoulder straps.
The timber is lightweight as it was intended to be worn as a back pack & would make a fabulous flower or display piece for your home or store.
It is all intact & in perfect condition with no imperfections or flaws.
Such a rare & fabulous farmhouse find!
